Skip to 0:30. The rest of the video is okay at best, but this one clip is just amazing.

That was hilarious

On a different note, what the hell is up with this guy's taste in music?

but then he crosses double yellows to get past the cop? that seemed unnecessary.

I understand these 'no turn on red' signs are edited in, but is it just the law there or do they put up signs that where just out of camera angle? In Germany we totally don't have a rule that allows right turns on red (in eastern parts we do have signs allowing right turns after bringing the car to a full stop and checking if you're not disturbing anybody).

Very.

I usually hate these kinds of videos but this was hilarious. I love how utterly defeated this guy sounds.
Also makes me feel a lot better about myself as a driver, and about drivers around my town.

My evening is going to be filled with watching these.

I mean not necessarily. I always try to give plenty of room to stopped emergency vehicles.

This guy seems like a massive dork. I would hate myself eventually after contantly waiting for crap like this to happen just to video it.

He's listening to gabriel iglesias @7:32. If you don't know who that is, get out, and go look him up on youtube.

If you look up at the light there is a sign on it. Also in many areas they will have them as a standalone sign on the side of the road.

plenty or excessive room?
he had a whole lane he could use.

No problem

I think that "move over" laws stipulate that you have to give at least one lane's worth of space to pulled-over cop cars. I'd imagine that that's why he went into the other side of the road.

The South Carolina law is written in a way that implies you're only supposed to move over on the highway, I can understand the confusion drivers would have though.
• Keep their vehicle under control;
• Proceed with due caution;
• Significantly reduce their vehicle speed;
• Yield the right of way by making a lane change into a lane not adjacent to the temporary work vehicle or equipment if on a highway with at least four lanes, with at least two lanes proceeding in the same direction;
• Maintain the safe speed for road conditions if changing lanes is impossible or unsafe

Biker equivalent, if you're interested:

Cops usually park staggered, so that their car is further into the lane than the car they pulled over and acts as a shield. If the guy he pulled over wasn't off the road, good chance the cop was out pretty far, or maybe the guy just wanted to give him extra room.

but you can see in the video that the cop is within his own lane.
I'm all for giving emergency vehicles room, it's not even legally stipulated in my Country but I'll move a lane over if it's safe to do so, if not I'll slow down and prepare to stop if I need to.
I'm only calling him out because the driver is pretty pedantic about some of the other bad drivers in the video.

On the other hand, he has the honesty to include a few of his own f'ups for balance.

Fair enough. I usually leave a car width if possible (highway or not), if only as a courtesy.

This guy and kyogre6444 (Bad Drivers in Portland) are the only ones I've found who are remotely interesting. They keep swearing to a reasonable minimum, have a decent sense of humor about it all, and they're just generally so much better than other dashcam people. Way too many are compilations of crap like some car just barely touching the driver's lane followed by a blaring horn and "GODDAMN STUPID MOTHERFUCKER!" and then a redundant slow-motion replay, and all the while there's insanely loud dubstep in the background of every clip.

Please tell me this isn't standard driving in the U.S.
In the U.K. your not supposed to enter an intersection without a clear exit and why when the intersection is clearly blocked did he several times accelerate sharply to then brake sharply to honk the poorest sounding horn I've ever heard?
If its blocked (granted it souldn't be) doesn't he just wait for it to clear rather than adding to the issue by putting his vehicle into the mix.
Both sides were in the wrong on a few occassions.

I'm not sure what the law is for that, actually, but I do know that it's pretty common to do that. If someone is blocking the intersection, assuming there's actually a way for them to move, it's not uncommon to bully them into submission. If there's really no way for them to get out of the way, though, it's definitely best not to go at all.
